Remember Me Artwork

In the book Remember Me, the character of Wren Crawford moves into her struggles with depression and loss through a commitment to paint the stations of the cross. I was fortunate to be asked by the author Sharon Garlough Brown to take on the character of Wren, an untrained artist, and to animate the words she had written about Wren’s paintings. Essentially to take her words and give them painted form.

These images, the stations of the cross, come from the historical practice of Visio Divina, or imagery for contemplative conversations.

My friend, Scott Erickson, says that “Contemplative just means seeing what actually is. When we can see our truest conversations about our situation and about ourselves we can begin to be healed.” These paintings are my offering to you into a deeper conversation with what is.

Original Artwork and Museum Quality Prints are available. The Prints have limited printing runs: The Advent Series Prints, Epiphany Series Prints, and Lent Series Prints. Each “run” will be limited to 200 prints produced in total.

There will be a special Lent Print available—of a painting yet to be created—We’ll be doing this live on Facebook with InterVarsity Press. Stay tuned for more details. All prints are produced on museum-quality thick, durable, matte paper.

Like the character of Wren, I am no stranger to depression and loss. A lineage of the disease runs deep in my family. Painting these works helped me move further into this space in a healthy way. It was a mysterious and beautiful process. I have made a commitment to ending the stigma around Mental Illness. The lineage of silence that surrounds and compounds this suffering ends with me. I hope you will join me. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Remember Me Art will go to NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
